What type of person comes to your mind when you think about a “Real Hero”?

To me, a real hero is someone who cares for others as much as they car efor themselves, never puts someone down, turns somebody’s life around, or says “hello” to somebody on the street they’ve never met, but think they could use a nice hello. A real hero isn’t all about themselves. They think of other people before themselves and they never try to hurt somebody’s feelings, like a lot of people we know today. They could help someone overcome an obstacle in their life that can actually wind up turning that person’s life around for the better. One person I know who is like this is my sister Kristina. She is very nice and always thinks of other people before herself. She never made fun of anybody, even as a 13 or 14 year old girl. I know you don’t want to admit it, but we have all made fun of somebody at least once in our lives, and we have all been made fun of. We don’t like how it feels. My sister had and will always have a kind heart. I remember when she went to Moran there was a girl that everybody picked on, but my sister was nice to. She didn’t have a lot of money, and she didn’t wear the “coolest” clothes. This was in 6th grade. One day my sister’s class was assigned to do a report. Kristina chose to write about this girl and how everybody picked on her, but she was always nice and understood her struggle. Kristina handed in her paper and received an A+ on it. It was well-deserved because she did something incredible for that girl. Not only was she nice to her when everybody else was putting her down, but she understood how she felt and wrote about it and this made that girl feel especially important. I admit that at times I can make fun of people and put them down, but after hearing this from my sister I decided to start to be nicer to the people everybody picks on and not let the people who pick on me affect how I feel. In conclusion, Kristina is and will always be my number one idol and I look up to her in so many ways. I hope that a lot of other people can relate to this. She is a real hero.

Go Green!

We all know what’s best for the environment. Drumroll please…RECYCLING! It’s not hard at all, but we all get lazy and just throw it in the trash. Did you know that if you dont cut up the plastic circles that hold together the six-packs of sodas, they go into the ocean and can cut off a dolphin’s air supply? We don’t want that to happen so SAVE THE EARTH!! Recycle paper, plastic, cans, bottles, etc. Plant a tree, turn off the television or lamp if you’re not using it. (Leaving the T.V. on is the number one energy waster!) In our economy, we can’t afford a dirty environment, so beautify Mother Nature by cleaning up your community!

What is the most dangerous question you can ask??

This is a tough question, considering all the dangerous things one can ask in the world. But if I had to choose just one, I would have to say, “Do you love me?” I know what you’re thinking. you’re probably saying to yourself this girl wouldn’t know what a dangerous question was if it hit her between the eyes. Just chill your beans. Think about it. Have you ever loved someone and didn’t know if they loved you back? What if you finally worked up the courage to tell that person that you loved them, and then got rejected? The time between that question and the response probably feels like the longest 10 seconds of your life. They may say yes, they may say no. If they say yes it takes loads of pressure off your shoulders. If they say no, 20 more tons of pressure just collapsed onto your shoulders and you are in a very awkward position right then and there. The best time to ask this question is if you are an adult in a steady relationship and you are almost positive that person will respond with a yes. If you are a middle school student or a high school student like most of us, we don’t truly know the meaning of love yet. So I think we should all steer clear of that deathly question 😉

Who Should be Qualified to Vote in a Presidential Election?

If the Electoral college was abolished, and people directly elected the President, what should the qualification be to partake in a Presidential election? Personally, I think everybody should be able to vote. Everyone has their own opinions, so if everyone were to vote, we would have a variety of votes. Picture this, every year you go to the polls and you vote for the next President. You think nothing of it. What if someone bigger and more important than you came up and said, ” You aren’t as important as me, so you can’t vote,” I bet you would feel pretty lousy, A homeless person on the street is not registered to vote because people believe they aren’t educated enough to understand what it happening. The truth is, they may not know too much, but just because they’re homeless doesn’t mean that they’re stupid. They are smart enough to know what is going on in the world. Everyone has their own opinions, everyone has their own personality. Don’t judge it because of their actions.

Trail of Tears

Why did this happen to me? I don’t know what I did to deserve this. I vaguely remember 7 white men in uniforms come into our house, holding us at gun point. It still pains me to remember the gruesome things they did to my husband. I’d rather not speak about it. All I know is that president Andrew Jackson started an Indian removal policy where the Cherokee nation was forced to give up their land and move to an area near Oklahoma. I am hungry, I am tired, and I don’t know how I will care for my daughter. My husband is no longer here to help me. I hope we can persevere through this tough time because as of now, I don’t see how we can survive. My daughter is tired and cold. My pain is mostly towards her, knowing that she did nothing to deserve this. She is an innocent child and she shouldn’t be put through this kind of heartache. I pray everyday that we don’t perish in the cold weather. I am now a destitute woman walking with my child. Our journey has been named “Nunna daul Tsuny” meaning “The Trail Where they Cried.” Thousands of the Cherokees are dying and I am desperate not to be one of them. I hate those men who took me away from my home and killed my husband. I just hope they know that.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words – Or Do They?

We have all heard the saying “Actions speak louder than words.” But then again, what about intentions? You can have actions without intentions and you can have intentions without actions. If someone said they were going to take out the trash and never did, that would be an example of intentions without actions. They intended to take out the trash, but never did. An example of actions without intentions would be a little boy throwing a ball into the middle of and running in after it. It wasn’t a smart thing to do because the boy could have been hit by a car. He didn’t think and absentmindedly ran into the street after the ball. That would actions without intentions.

A newspaper printed out a new story and it was on the first page. The editors didn’t send it to the schools because they felt it was inappropriate for school children. He felt the picture on the front was not good for children to see. The teachers of the school were upset because they did not get the paper they were paying for. They editors had good intentions because they didn’t want the children to be exposed to graphic photos like the newpaper photo. Therefore, I think the editors had the intentions without actions. The children didn’t need to see the article in the newspaper.

7) Live in Europe for a year.

Where is your favorite place?

My favorite place in the world is definitely a tie between home and Delaware OAC summer camp in Winsted,CT. Home should be everybody’s favorite place, along with somewhere else. my other choice would be Delaware OAC. It is the most fun place EVER! I do everything you can imagine and the people there are soo nice. (mostly 😉 ) You make friends you never thought you could make, and learn how to do so many new things. It is quite expensive, but definitely well worth it! By the time camp is over, you will be crying your eyes out because you are leaving all of your new friends. What’s your favorite place in the world? Tell me don’t forget to comment!

P.S. If you are interested in going to DOAC summer camp, please go click HERE!!
